In March of 2006, Cheri and fellow
entertainer Sunny Marie produced and directed the first "Ollie, Ollie, Oxen Free" Story Slam in the Lakewood
area in honor of Elm Farm Ollie, the first cow milked while flying in an airplane. Ten storytellers each told 5- to
7-minute stories to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Three outside judges chose the winners based
on a variety of criteria -- both subjective and objective. In addition, a People's Choice Award was presented. The
story slam was such an overwhelming success that these two professional storytellers hosted another slam in 2007 and
2008. Applications
for the 2009 story slam will be accepted starting in January of 2009. For more information regarding Ollie, please
